Snow snow snow snow! It won’t be long before we’ll all be there with snow!
For those of you who aren’t as obsessed with the movie as Andrea and I, that’s a song from White Christmas. And for those of you who aren’t located in central Ohio, Old Man Winter dumped several inches of snow on us here on Wednesday.
Ah, snow. How I love you when you’re all fresh and pristine. Not so much when you become all slushy and grey. But fresh and pristine is what we’ve got now and I’m reveling in the newness of it.
Snow increases my already strong winter desire for coziness and plushness. Coziness and plushness is what you get from a long cowl and a long cowl is what we’ve got for this week’s free pattern.
Behold, the Hourglass Cowl.
This cowl uses two different stitch pattern which provide great texture and are very simple to knit. The “right” and “wrong” side of the main stitch pattern are both very pretty, making this a reversible cowl.
The pattern calls for worsted weight yarn. So many yarn options! For a wooly cowl with gorgeous stitch definition, use Cascade 220. For a soft and tweedy version, use Blackstone Tweed. For a squishy, kettle dyed version, use Maxima. Want soft and drapey? Use Ultra Alpaca.

Happy Friday and happy knitting!
