I don’t know about you but I have a lot of babies on the way this year in my circle of family and friends. I am so excited about so many babies!
But…..what to knit for so many babies? Blankets, hats, and booties are classic. What if you want to do something that the baby could wear, like a baby sweater? Few things in this world are more precious than an itty, bitty baby sweater. And the most practical kind of baby sweater is a cardigan.
Check out the Puerperium Cardigan.
As the designer says -
Puerperium is a very simply styled cardi, designed to be easy for new parents to dress their babe in the puerperium period (6 weeks post birth).
The pattern is top-down seamless in construction, and offers a wonderful blank canvas should one decide to embellish.
In my book, that is a perfect little baby knit.
There are so many directions you could go with for yarn. You could go totally classic with Rowan Pure Wool DK. You could go summery, cottony, and stripey with Summer Stripes. You could go handpainted delight with Dream in Color Everlasting DK. You could even go soft and silky with Snuggly Baby Bamboo. All of these options are machine washable too!
Happy Friday and happy knitting!
